Duxbury Clipper

Michael McInnis

Michael McInnis, of Duxbury and Dorchester, devoted father of Connor McInnis, passed away peacefully on March 27, surrounded by his family, after a short battle with cancer.

Michael was on the board of directors for Duxbury Youth Baseball, serving as treasurer for over five years, which he took with great pride. In addition, he was involved in other youth sports leagues around town by helping, when possible, with Duxbury Youth Hockey and Duxbury Youth Soccer.

A 1979 graduate of UMass Boston, Michael was a marketing consultant and part of technical services for Meditech, where he retired after a 30-year career.

Michael was an avid bird watcher and naturalist. He was a founding member of the SBICMBC, the South Boston’s Irish Catholic Men’s Bird Club, alongside lifelong friend Ronnie Donovan, the club’s Chief Birding Officer. Being an avid naturalist and volunteer, he was always a part of beach cleanups, replanting dune grass, anything that would benefit the environment. Michael was an active participant with Audubon and their many activities, one being the annual bird count. In addition, he had a naturalist column with The Curbstone, a Dorchester newspaper, called “The Bird Box.”

After running cross country for B.C High, Michael went on to run the Boston Marathon six times. He was a member of the Noon Time Nuts, South Boston’s prestigious running club that would run Castle Island every day at noon.

The family asks for donations to the Audubon Society in place of flowers.
