The harsh reality that anything can happen in the tournament hit the Dragons hard Friday night at Walpole High School.
No. 2 Duxbury led by three goals late but ended up falling in heartbreaking fashion, 10-9, to No. 3 Billerica, in the Division 2 state semifinals. The Dragons were the aggressors for the bulk of the second half, and put themselves in position to win, but the Indians snatched momentum and crushed Duxbury’s championship dreams on a decisive goal with 1 second left.
