Harry Potter Yule Ball. If you love Harry Potter, come to our Yule Ball in your best Harry Potter costume or house colors. 2-4 p.m. at the Duxbury Free Library. There’ll be crafts, dancing and fun for all Harry Potter fans ages 9 and up. Registration is required online, in person or by phone.

Sunday, January 6

Salon Series. Investigative reporter Maureen Boyle talks about her book “Shallow Graves: The Hunt for the New Bedford Highway Serial Killer,” 2 p.m. at the Duxbury Free Library. Boyle first broke the story in 1988 and stayed with it for decades. Registration is required and can be done at the library website.

The Pillar Life. The Pillar Life
is a simple strategy that can help
transform a person’s life. Its creators,
Sheri Salata and Nancy Hala of the
popular podcast “This is Fifty” will
join the program via Skype. This is
free event takes place Wednesday,
Jan. 9 from 1 to 3 p.m at the Duxbury

Helping Hounds. Owen, the certified
therapy dog is coming to the Duxbury
Free Library from 4-5 p.m. Call the

sign up for a 15-minute time block to
practice reading to Owen with a book
of your choice.

Friday, January 11

Music Together. Stop by the Duxbury Free Library at 10:30 a.m. for a free demonstration class offered by the South Shore Conservatory for children birth to four with caregiver. Participate in a joyful musical environment through song, dance and rhythmic activities. Registration is required online, in person or by phone.

Tuesday, January 15

Booked for Lunch. Edwin Hill, son of Duxbury resident and former Duxbury High School principal Jack Hill, will discuss his new novel “Little Comfort” at the Duxbury

Senior Center from noon to 2 p.m. This is the first in a series of mystery books featuring Hester Thursby, a Harvard librarian and part time sleuth. Lunch is catered by Mix it Up Kitchen and is $10. The literary event is free. Register by calling 781-934- 5774, ext. 5716.

Black Tie Bingo. The Duxbury Senior Center and The Duxbury Interfaith Council team up for Black Tie Bingo from 6-10 p.m. at the Duxbury Senior Center. The event raises money for those who need fuel assistance. Door prizes, appetizers and desserts. Change the lives of your friends, neighbors and relatives. Tickets are $50 and can be purchased at the Senior Center front desk.
