Summer History Series. Carolyn Ravenscroft speaks about Duxbury Women at Sea at a breakfast lecture. 8:30 a.m. at the Duxbury Senior Center. The cost of the breakfast is $5.

Slime Workshop. Learn how to make slime with simple household materials. 3:30 - 4 p.m. at the Duxbury Free Library. Open to ages 8 and up. Registration is required.

Read, Sing, Play. The Duxbury Free Library’s popular program is going on the road to the Duxbury Senior Center, at 10 a.m. Music, participatory stories and movement are designed for the preschool through grade 2 crowd with their favorite adults. Siblings welcome. No registration needed, just come and enjoy.

The final BookBreeze fundraiser of the season. Features author J. Courtney Sullivan, here to talk about her newest book, “Saints for All Occasions.” 5:30 p.m. at the Duxbury Bay Maritime School. Tickets can be purchased at the Library, at Westwinds Bookshop or at duxburyfol.org and is $25 before the event and $30 at the door. Copies of the book will be available for purchase and signing.

Saturday, August 18

It’s Library mini-golf day. Come play a free nine-hole mini golf game all around the library stacks from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. No registration required. Open to all ages.

Monday, August 20

Knitting Night. Need help seaming a sweater, learning how to turn a cable, or just learning to knit? Join a night for social knitting with help available for beginners and intermediates. No registration necessary. 6-8 p.m. at the Duxbury Free Library.

Tuesday, August 21

MamaSteph Concert. Sing and dance with one of South Shore’s favorite children’s musicians. 10:30 to 11 a.m. at the Duxbury Free Library. Open to Pre-K and up with an adult. Registration is required for both adults and children by visiting the library website in person or by phone.

Wednesday, August 22

Pages in History lecture. 9 a.m. at the Duxbury Senior Center. Legal and political experts say the rise in power of the nine Supreme Court judges can be traced to the Marbury v. Madison case of 1803. Bill Bigelow speaks about the case. Call to register at 781- 934-5774, ext. 5716.

SSC: Kids Intro to Chorus. Kids entering grades three to six in September are invited to join Mr. Mundt, Conductor of the South Shore Conservatory Youth Chorus, for a fun-filled hour of singing and musical activities. 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Duxbury Free Library. Registration is appreciated.

Duxbury Art Association Member Show Opening Reception. 6:30-10 p.m. at The Ellison Center for the Arts.
