Just a footnote to my

Just a footnote to my response below. You are quite correct about Town Meeting and we heard the message loud and clear. Our proposal is intended to be in total conformance with the current Zoning By-law as it relates to subdivisions. We intend to sell home sites, some with the existing historic homes on them, and we will be creating design guidelines to ensure that the proposed architecture of any of the new houses is compatible with the other homes on the site and with the general architectural and historic fabric of Duxbury. Ms. Lynch-Benttinen, Thanks

Ms. Lynch-Benttinen, Thanks for your very informed and interesting letter. We do not intend to demolish either of the historic homes along Washington Street. Our intention is to sell them "as is" with the hope that the buyers will renovate both of them. We also hope to be able to move another historic house to the third lot along Washington Street. That said, I very much appreciate your concern which I share. I was a Commissioner of the Mass Historical Commission, a member of the Board of Preservation Mass and a member of the Senate Special Committee on Historic Preservation. Best, Merrill H.
