SSCAC STEM Playgroup. A new six-week session of the South Shore Community Action Council’s hour-long STEM playgroup exploring science, technology, engineering and math with everyday activities for both adult and child. Continues through Sept. 20. Meets 10:30 a.m.

Charts and Navigation. Head to Duxbury Beach from 9:30 – 11 a.m. for this free program on learning how to navigate using a compass and charts. This hour-and-a-half session will convince you to put your GPS back in the box. Free program sponsored by Duxbury Beach Reservation Inc. and presented by Mass Audubon’s South Shore Sanctuaries.

Art by the Bay with the DAA. Duxbury Art Association exhibit, cocktail party, awards ceremony. A fashionable connection to Duxbury’s past. 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. Gallery talk, “Threads of Duxbury’s Past.” Mattie Ali of the DRHS will talk about the exhibit of a mother in a white summer dress with her boy in a sailor suit, early 20th century clothing. Program co-sponsored by the Duxbury Rural and Historical and the Duxbury Free Library.

Make a 3-D fidget spinner. Learn how to make your own customized fidget spinner in tinker-cad, a free web-based software. 10:30 - 11:30 a.m., Children’s Dept. Open to 4th graders and up. Conservatory fall Open House. 2 to 4 p.m. South Shore Conservatory, 64 St. George St., Duxbury and One Conservatory Drive, Hingham. Admission to all activities is free at both SSC campuses. Lifelong learning classes. Registration at the Duxbury Senior Center. Open to all interested adults of all ages from all communities. Courses are $30. Monday, Sept. 11. Registration may only be done in person or by mail from 3 – 5 p.m. Walk-in registrations will continue on Tuesday, Sept. 12 and Wednesday, Sept. 13 from 10 a.m. – noon on a first-come first-serve basis. Conservatory Youth Chorus Open Rehearsal Auditions. Formerly called Pure Treble, the SSCYC will hold free auditions. Refreshments served. Program information available on site, 5 - 6 p.m. SSC’s Ellison Center for the Arts, 64 St. George St. Singers in grades 3 – 6 are welcome to attend an open rehearsal.
